From Palm Sunday to Hollywood<\/h1>\n

\"\"On Palm Sunday, in the beautiful setting of 12th Century St Mary\u2019s Wargrave, Twyford Singers performed two stunning versions of the Requiem. The first by English composer, John Rutter CBE with its exquisitely challenging four part harmonies and haunting melodies in the movements Agnus Dei and Lux Aeterna with his uplifting Sanctus contrasting with the Lord is My Shepherd. A short interval allowed the full house audience to refresh in the new church annex and the singers launched into Gabriel Faur\u00e9s Requiem in D minor. This seemingly simpler version of Requiem replaces the full Dies Irae with Pie Jesu and was very much enjoyed by all who were left wanting more from a choir who could have sung it all again.<\/p>\n

Twyford Singers were directed by their accomplished Music Director, Helen Styles, supported by a musical ensemble comprising; Eleanor Dunsdon (Harp), Andy Spiceley (Timpani), Martin Proctor (Glockenspiel), Julia Bentley Dawkes (Flute), AJ Gibson (Oboe), Jackie Ratcliff (Cello), Gillian Mott (Violin). In addition to the ensemble the singers were ably accompanied by Benjamin Frost (Organist), Angela Good (Soprano soloist) and James Gilbert (Tenor Soloist).<\/p>\n

Contrasting the serious beauty of the Requiems at Easter, Twyford Singers will be revealing their lighter side and great versatility in their Summer Concert on Saturday 22nd June 2019. The concert will be featuring more than two dozen pieces of music drawn from opera, light opera and the biggest shows. To name a few, the singers will perform choruses of the Hebrew Slaves, Humming and Soldiers. Also included are Gilbert and Sullivan\u2019s Policeman\u2019s Songs, Three Little Maids and show classics from Les Mis\u00e9rables, Phantom of the Opera, and Hollywood. Finally, it will be one of their best ever concerts, book tickets early as space is limited at Loddon Hall, Twyford. <\/p>\n
